Virtually any weight-loss method produces a rapid drop in pounds during the first few days and weeks. This phenomenon is a natural part of the weight-loss process and reinforces the decision to lose weight in the first place. However, the pounds that are lost in the early days need to be kept in perspective. The purpose of losing weight is to lose body fat. And while it would be wonderful if all of the pounds lost early were fat that is not the case.
