Access Time

Reading data from or writing data to a hard disk involves the rotation of the spindle to bring the required sector under the read/write head, and the motion of the read / write head to the desired track on the platter. The access time is the sum of the time taken for these. Active Partition is the partition that has been marked in the Master Partition Table as containing the boot information. Only one partition can be marked as active, though more than one can contain the boot information.
